This is what I heard on the radio today as I was grading papers..."If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans!" The DJs continued by reminding us that God's ways are higher than our ways and that His plans are better than our plans. It made me smile because things certainly have not been going the way I had planned them! I've been feeling a little like Job lately- how in the world did he lose all of his children and all of his animals and be infected with boils and still praise the Lord and know that it was ALL for the best???? What an amazing example of faith!
This week, as things have continued to change and God has continued to throw me curve-ball after curve-ball, I am trying to take comfort in the fact that God's way is better than my way and that His plan is better than my plan. Continue to pray for God's direction in my life because I can't share exactly what's going on right now, but it definitely was not what I was expecting and I have no idea what God is going to do, but I'm interested to see what in the world He's going to do next! I'm trying to trust instead of freak out! There are definitely days when that's difficult :)
Also, as you pray, please keep my dear friends, the Westerlunds, in prayer. Justine and I taught in Miami for 2 years together and she is a huge reason for my coming to MACA and Maryland. This week, her oldest brother was admitted to the hospital and several days later, he passed away. He has lived with muscular dystrophy for his entire life and has been progressively getting worse, BUT NOW, he is living in heaven with an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT body!!! What an amazing thought! God has completely healed him! But, now his family needs emotional healing. The funeral will be on Monday and I'm sure it will be very hard for them. Pray that God sustains them and gives them the healing they need.
This is Justine and me last spring in Miami!
Isaiah 55:9
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
