Our Tennessee Vacation :) Part 1: Gatlinburg

Months ago we started planning our week long vacation (long before we knew about our 2 beach trips!) and decided to visit 3 different places: Gatlinburg, TN; Nashville, TN and then a stop in Petersburg, KY. We got more excited the more we researched the trip and happily headed out to our first destination, Gatlinburg and Smoky Mountain National Park.

We hiked to the highest point in the park, Clingman's Dome, and this is what we saw...FOG!!! You're supposed to be able to see 2 states- not today, that's for sure! If you look closely, I'm standing about in the middle of the picture. We couldn't see anything way up there!

The Appalachian Trail crosses Clingman's Dome and is at it's highest elevation there. This was on the Appalachian Trail :)

Our next hike was to Laurel Falls. They were absolutely beautiful and unlike most falls you see. This was the top half and then it went down further below where we were standing.

Our favorite spot in the Park! Laurel Falls :)

Our new hiking shoes ;)

We walked to another, smaller fall on a guided walk with a park ranger.

Cataract Falls

The park is absolutely beautiful! We couldn't get over all of the beautiful scenery!

If you have to chance to go to the Smoky Mountains, do it! We were amazed at the beauty and all that there was to do there- all for FREE by the way :) We were not impressed by the actual towns of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, but the park was absolutely worth the trip!
