This verse has been on my mind for several months and I thought I'd blogged about it, but it doesn't look like it. During the summer I was reading through Psalm 78 and came across verse 35:
" They REMEMBERED that God was their ROCK and the high God their REDEEMER"
What an amazing verse- the Israelites had seen all sorts of miracles and yet they complained and forgot who God was and what He had done for them. The had seen miracles that we couldn't ever imagine and yet they forgot. We have God's word and we have heard of the miracles but yet we forget too. We need to make sure that we don't forget what God has done, especially during this busy time of year. It's easy to get caught up in the Christmas gift buying and wrapping and baking and busy family times, but let us not forget the little baby that was born 2000+ years ago in a little manger with 2 scared parents, who would later be our Savior and die on a cross for us! What an amazing time of year to STOP and reflect on God's grace towards us!
Another reason I've been thinking about this verse is because of something that happened at work last week. Last Saturday night, one of the hostesses at Cracker Barrel asked me for $5 so she could eat. Normally, I would have said no, but as I thought about it for a minute, I realized this isn't my money, it's the Lord's. He has blessed me and provided for every single need I have (and many of the wants!) So, as I have her the $5, I trusted the Lord to provide and use that $5 in her life. I should probably mention that this girl has told me that she goes to church but she doesn't really know if she believes in God or not and we've had an issue or two between us. I'm praying that I get a chance to invite her to the Christmas services at our church, but also that I get to witness to her at some point. So, back to this story, I gave her the money and knew I'd made money that night but I wasn't sure how much, but I also knew that God was telling me to give her the money. As a result, I was immediately blessed! Every table after that left me $5 or more, which was not a coincidence. I know that I did the right thing and I was blessed for doing it. Sometimes we don't always see the blessing right away, but I'm thankful the Lord once again showed me His goodness.
I hope you all see God's blessings in your life this CHRISTmas season!
